Exports are expected to continue rising as domestic demand seasonally weakens. Diesel exports are also rising, by 37% in September and by 6.6% for January-September. Meanwhile gasoline exports in September were up by 11.3% on the month, and over January-September were up 40%, according to customs data. Fuel oil exports in September, the latest available data, fell 5.1% on the year to 2.454 million mt while production in that month was down 9.5% at 3.308 million mt. Russia’s fuel oil production totaled 3.483 million mt in October, down 8.4% year on year. Lower throughput has seen reduced fuel oil output and exports compared with last year’s levels. A number of refineries, including Taneco, Komsomolsk, Volgograd, Norsi, Perm, Ryazan and Taif carried out their autumn maintenance in October. The decline in throughput was due to seasonal maintenance and poor refinery economics. Russian refineries processed 21.420 million mt (about 5.04 million b/d) of crude in October, down 11.2% year on year and down 1.4% from September, according to energy ministry data. Russian refineries are coming out of their autumn maintenance programs but are expected to continue running at reduced throughput on poor economics.
